George Briggs Bacon II, of Rockford departed this earthly life Monday, April 30, 2012 in Swedish American Hospital after a sudden illness. He was born May 22, 1953 in Rockford the son of George Sr. and Vera Bacon. He was employed as a teacher, by Rockford Head Start Program and at Kishwaukee Elementary School. He was also a driver for AAA Limousine. George, attended Allen Chapel A.M.E. Church. He graduated from West High School class of 1972 where he participated in wrestling becoming the Conference Champion his Senior year; he later attend Illinois State University. He was an avid Bears fan. George, leaves to cherish many loving memories, two daughters, Brandi Brown, and Balinda Bacon; three grandchildren, Carandus Jr., Jamaia, and Imani; four sisters, Patty Agins, Georgianne Bacon-Brooks, Bonnie Fair and Delana Bacon (Charles) Williams; two brothers, Ronald (Elaine) Bacon and Thomas Bacon; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was predeceased by his parents, two brothers, John & David Bacon, sister Thelma Bacon and grandparents. Services will be held 11:00a.m. Saturday, May 5, 2012 at Carl E. Ponds Funeral Home 2429 W. State Street. Burial in Greenwood Cemetery. Visitation will be held 9:00a.m. until the time of service.
