Mack W. Evans, of Rockford departed this earthly life Wednesday, March 27, 2013 at Alma Nelson Debes Subacute Center after a short illness. He was born January 9, 1927 in Sallis, MS the son of Mack and Lela Pearl Evans. Mack lived in Rockford over 67 years coming from Sallis, MS. He married the former Dorothy Horton August 5, 1951, she preceded him in death. Mack was employed as a molder by National Grey Iron Foundry in Belvidere 30 years before retiring. He was a founding member of St. Paul Church of God in Christ serving on the Deacons Board. He attended school in Mississippi. Mack leaves to cherish many loving memories, two daughters, Anita (Lee) Fricks and ViAnne Evans; six grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; two sisters, Daisy Lee Harmon and Lela D. (Sonny) Thurman; a host of other relatives and friends including special nephews Charles Evans and Mark Thurman and special niece, LaNeeda Evans. He was predeceased by his wife, parents, three sisters, and three brothers. Special thanks to the staff of Nelson Debes Subacute Center. Services will be held 12:00 p.m. Saturday, April 6, 2013 at St. Paul Church of God in Christ 1001 Bishop Washington Ave. Burial in Greenwood Cemetery.
