Alvin Derrell "Dell" Tidwell, of Rockford departed this earthly life January 14, 2025. He was born September 19, 1969 in Rockford the son of Alvin Sr. and Helen Tidwell. Alvin was employed Maintenance Technician for the YMCA,  and  for NIHS for 20 years before retiring. He was a former member of  Providence Baptist Church and Faith Walkers Assembly before his health failing him. Alvin coached many years as football coach for Northwest Community Center, 100 Strong, Rockford Raptors and Boylan Jr. Titans. He also coached basketball for West Middle School and Blackhawk Boys & Girls Club and the 100 Strong Basketball team. He attended East High School and later received his G.E.D.

Alvin leaves to cherish many loving memories, his father, Alvin Tidwell; sisters, Tiffany Tidwell, Lashant Walker, Dionne Walker, Lorie A. (Joe) Mangual, Tina (David) Keener and two brothers, Trevor (Beret) Tidwell and Anthony (Chandra) Tidwell; a host of nieces, nephews cousins other relatives and good friends including his special step daughter Arial Reed; special nephew, Damian Tidwell and great nephews, A'King and A'Prince Tidwell-Gulley" special friend and former wife Angel Blaylock-Tidwell. He was predeceased by his mother.

Services will be held 1:00 p.m. Thursday,  January 30, 2025 at Carl E. Ponds Funeral Home Inc. Visitation 11:00 a.m. until the time of service.
