Annie "Mattie" Mae Wright-Metcalf of Rockford departed this earthly life February 13, 2023. She was born August 17, 1935 in Mississippi the daughter of Mary Wright and Charlie Marble. Mattie lived in Rockford since 1976 coming from St. Louis, MO. She married Sidney Metcalf, he preceded her in death. Mattie was employed 22 years by Amberwood Nursing Home. She was a member of Ephesians Missionary Baptist Church, serving as a nurse.  She attended schools in Mississippi.

Mattie, leaves to cherish many loving memories, four daughters, Katie Marble, Annie (Henry) Lee and Wynell (Chris) Newton and Johnnie (Michael) Glass; 11 grandchildren; 28 great grandchildren; 2 great great grandchildren; sister, Earnestine Cain; a host of nieces, nephews other relatives and friends. She was predeceased by his her parents; grandson, Antwan Lee; great granddaughter, Jaleah Hatter; eight sisters, Mary Lee Wright, Beatrice Crockett, Christine Vanderbilt, Ola Mae Vanderbilt, Addie B. Nelson, Alberta Woods, Bobbie Jean Stewart and Francis Thompson and brother, Charlie Wright.

Services will be 11:00 a.m. Friday, February 24, 2023 At Ephesians Missionary Baptist Church 1112 Taylor St. Burial in Greenwood Cemetery. Visitation will be held 9:00 a.m. until the time of service. Arrangements completed by Carl E. Ponds Funeral Home Inc. 200 N. Johnston Ave.
