Barbara Thay Marshall, of Indianapolis, Indiana, departed this earthly life August 11, 2023. She was born January 7, 1943 in Shivers, MS the daughter Ardell and Eunice Woodard. Barbara lived in Indianapolis 10 years after leaving Rockford, IL. She married Charlie Marshall February 15, 1963, he preceded her in death. Barbara was employed as a Licensed Practical Nurse by OSF St. Anthony Medical Center many years before retiring in 1980. She was a member of Hope Fellowship Church and former member of Providence Baptist Church serving as the former President of the Nurses Guild and she grew up in Oak Ridge Baptist Church in Mississippi. She graduated from Lilly Hill School.

Barbara leaves to cherish many loving memories, two daughters, Theresa Marshall and Cynthia Marshall; one granddaughter, Briana Marshall; two sisters, Darlene (George) Smith and Catherine (Melvin) Calender; four brothers, Booker T. Woodard, JL (Glenda) Woodard, LV Woodard and NC Woodard; a host of nieces, nephews other relatives and friends including daughter in law, Greselda Harris; and special friend, Ruth Dewalt. She was predeceased by her parents, Ardell and Eunice; husband, Charlie; son, Kenneth Marshall; five sisters, Odessa Woodard, Rodella Woodard, Ardella Keys, Delma Mae Woodard and Missouri Ann  Moore; five brothers, Earl C. Woodard, Ardell Woodard, Elois Woodard, EL Woodard and Lewis Woodard.

Services will be held 11:00 a.m. Saturday, August  19, 2023 at Hope Fellowship 1135 E. State St. Burial in Sunset Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be held 9:00 a.m. until the time of service. Arrangements completed by Carl E. Ponds Funeral Home Inc. 200 N. Johnston Ave.
