Beatrice Horton was born on March 6, 1943, in Fulton County, Atlanta, Georgia, where she grew up in a warm and supportive family that nurtured her tenacious spirit, strong faith, and lifelong dedication to helping others. Her early years were filled with close community ties, church involvement, and the beginnings of the steadfast reliability she would become known for throughout her life.

As a young woman, Beatrice moved to Rockford, Illinois, where she built a beautiful life centered on service, faith, and family. She devoted herself to uplifting others, showing kindness, and being a steady presence for anyone who needed her. Her life’s work was defined not by titles, but by the countless ways she poured into her community and the people she loved. She was employed by the Social Security Administration for 26 years, where her commitment, professionalism, and compassion touched countless lives.

Beatrice married Thomas Horton, and together they created a home filled with love, laughter, and food. Her family was her greatest joy, and she celebrated every milestone with pride and gratitude.

She was known as someone who always showed up — whether for family, friends, or neighbors — and she offered unwavering support to anyone who needed it. Her quick‑wit, good food, and hospitality were hallmarks of her character. She was also a devoted member of Hope Fellowship Church, where she found fellowship, purpose, and lifelong friendships.

Beatrice departed this life on June 30, 2026, leaving behind a legacy defined by reliability, grace, and service. Her memory will continue to inspire all who were blessed to know her.

She was predeceased by her husband Thomas Horton, her daughter Patricia Horton, and her granddaughter Paisley Horton.

She is survived by her son, Jacque (Dinah) Horton of Georgia; known as “Granny” to her grandchildren D’wan Horton, Dareia Horton, Jacque Horton II, and Jarrell Horton; and lovingly called “Gigi” by her great‑grandchildren Asimi Horton and A’maya Horton. She also leaves to cherish her memory her special nieces Zina Horton and Vianne Evans, her extended family, many dear friends, her close friend Donna Stenglein, and her dear aunt Joanne Washington, all of whom will forever hold her in their hearts.

Celebration of Life will be held 12:00 p.m. ~ 3:00p.m. Wednesday, July 8, 2026 at Midway Village Museum 6799 Guilford Road, Rockford, IL 61107
