Ben Coulter Jr., of Rockford departed this earthly life April 11, 2024. He was born April 11, 1947 in Luxora Arkansas the son of Ben Sr. and Nettie Coulter. Ben lived in Rockford since 1969 coming from Arkansas. He married Carolyn Newton, August 15, 1987; she preceded him in death. Ben was employed as a machine operator by Barbara Coleman over 25 years.  He was a member of Gomez Chapel A.M.E. Church.  He graduated from Westside High School, class of 1966, where was  the #1 basketball player.

Ben leaves to cherish many loving memories, two sons, Michael (Lueretha) Coulter and Benjamin (Kerissa) Coulter; three daughters, Regina Coulter, Verla Newton and April Newton; 29 grandchildren and 48 great grandchildren; brother, Jamie Coulter; five sisters, Geneva Mosley, Martha Bailey, Pearline Poole, Nettie Neal and Annie Nell (Harold) Hampton; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins other relatives and friends. He was predeceased by his parents; wife, Carolyn Coulter;  son, Kevin Coulter; brothers, Leotha and Vernell Patton; and sister Johnnie Walker.

Services will be held 11:00 a.m. Thursday April ,25, 2024 at Gomez Chapel A.M.E. Church 1509 Michigan Ave. Entombment at Sunset Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be held 9:00 a.m. until the time of service. Arrangements completed by Carl E. Ponds Funeral Home Inc. 200 N. Johnston Ave.
