Bernice "Sister" Eggans of Rockford departed this earthly life August 30, 2023. She was born August 24, 1938 in Lavalle, Missouri the daughter of Annise and Narvie Carr. Bernice lived in Rockford since 1955 coming from Chicago, IL. She married Leo Charles "L.C." Eggans, November 29, 1969 he preceded her in death. Bernice was a charter member of Macedonia Baptist Church, formerly serving in the choir.  She attended Rockford public schools.

Bernice leaves to cherish many loving memories, her sister, Clarice Posley; special cousin who was raised as her brother, Willie "Bussie" Burnett; a host of nieces, nephews other relatives and friends. She was predeceased by her parents; husband Leo; and brother, John Carr.

Services will be held 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, September 6, 2023 at Macedonia Baptist Church 1720 Morgan Street. Burial in Willwood Burial Park. Visitation will be held 11:00 a.m. until the time of service. Arrangements completed by Carl E. Ponds Funeral Home Inc. 200 N. Johnston Ave.
