Bettie Jo Embrey, of Rockford departed this earthly life June 1, 2024. She was born August 2, 1946 in Chidester, Arkansas the daughter of M.C. and Olyion Yarbrough. Bettie lived in Rockford since 1953 coming from Arkansas. She was employed as a Unit Clerk by P.A. Peterson Nursing Home, 17 years before becoming ill. Bettie was a member of State Street Church of Christ. She graduated from East High School class of 1965, later to attend Rock Valley College, where she received her C.N.A. certification.

Bettie leave to cherish many loving memories, her son, Dion Embrey Sr; and daughter, Anjeannette Gillespie; two grandchildren, Dion (Quincy) Embrey Jr. and Fanesse Embrey; great grandson, Leo Embrey; sister, Martha Yarbrough; a host of other relatives and friends. She was predeceased by parents.

Services will be held Monday June 10, 2024 at 1:00 p.m. at Carl E. Ponds Funeral Home Inc. 200 N. Johnston Ave. Visitation will be held 11:00 a.m. until the time of service.
