Bruce Edward Russey of Rockford departed this earthly life September 5, 2023. He was born September 11, 1968, in Rockford, IL, the son of L.C. Williams and Imo Jean Gulley-Russey. Bruce graduated from Auburn High School-Class of 1986. He later attended Lincoln Technical Institute where he was trained in auto mechanics. Bruce was employed as a salesman for Auto Zone and previously employed as an ASE Certified Journeyman at Jack Wolfe. Bruce loved cars, their audio systems, to barbecue, boxing, and the Dallas Cowboys. He married the former Joyce Jefferson, June 11, 2005. Bruce leaves his wife; Joyce; five daughters, Brianna (Danny) Mallory, Amber Russey, Rashida Russey, Chiantalese Russey, and Imani Russey; one son, Mareo Mitchell; four step-children Porsha (Jason) Simmons, James Jefferson, Princess Catlin, and Paris Catlin; 22 grandchildren; five brothers, Benjamin (Christine) Russey, Donald (Lottie) Russey, Herman Russey, Lee (Debra) Russey, and Kenny (Janice) Williams of Arkansas; five sisters, Lacine Russey, Maxine Scott, Angela Russey, Evelyn (Donald) Page of Arkansas, and Angela (George) Rodgers of Arkansas; and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Annette Russey; brother, George Russey; and granddaughter Mariana Jefferson.

Memorial Services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on September 23, 2023, at Carl E. Ponds Funeral Home, Inc. 200 N. Johnston Ave. Doors will be open from 12:00pm until the time of service.
