Carolyn Ann "Mrs. C." Coulter, of Rockford departed this earthly life November 14, 2021 in her home. She was born December 5, 1954 in Eagle Mills, Arkansas the daughter of Floyd Sr. and Verla Newton. Carolyn lived in Rockford since 1967 coming from Arkansas. She married Ben Coulter Jr., August 15, 1987. Carolyn was employed as a Certified Nurses Assistant by River Bluff Nursing Home. She was a member of Gomez Chapel A.M.E. Church. Carolyn attended West High School, later to receive her G.E.D.

Carolyn leaves to cherish many loving memories, her husband, Ben Coulter Jr.; son, Benjamin (Kerissa) Coulter; two daughters, April Newton and Verla Newton; 18 grandchildren and a host of great grandchildren; mother, Verla Purifoy; three brothers, Michael (Muriel) Newton,  Christopher (Wynell) Newton and Doyle (Tomasine) Newton; a host of nieces, nephews other relatives and friends. She was predeceased by her father; infant son and brother, Floyd Newton Jr.

Services will be held 11:00 a.m. Monday, November 22, 2021 at Gomez Chapel A.M.E. Church 1509 Michigan Ave. Burial in Sunset Memorial Gardens. Visitation from 9:00 a.m. until the time of service. Arrangements completed by Carl E. Ponds Funeral  Home Inc. 200 N. Johnston Ave.
