Ceotias "Dick" Givens was born to Brank and Annabel Givens on February 21, 1937 in Sumner, Mississippi. Ceotias relocated to Rockford, Illinois in 1955.  Ceotias worked in manufacturing several years  prior to opening his own business, Dicks Auto Polish in 1969.  Ceotias retired from Jack Wolf Motors in 2002. Ceotias married Thelma Thompson March 17th, 1956.  He was the proud father of 9 children, Cleotha Nickles (Beverly), Donald (Donna), Duane, Stevie (Virginia), Annette, Craig (Tante) Givens, Michelle Givens-Atkinson, and Erick (Angela) Givens.

Ceotias fought a good fight. He left this earthly life surrounded by his children and grandchildren, Saturday, October 23, 2021.

Ceotias leaves to cherish his memory, his loving, devoted wife of 65 years, Thelma;  his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren; he also he leaves brothers Sylvester (Catherine) , Veron (Carnette), Larry (Rita), Phillip and Michael Givens; and sisters Leola Boyd and Annie Givens.

Services will be held 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, November 3, 2021 at St. Luke Missionary Baptist Church 2919 19th Street. Burial in Sunset Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be held from 9:00 a.m. until the time of service. Arrangements completed by Carl E. Ponds Funeral Home Inc
