Charles David “Charlie” Johnson, of Rockford departed this earthly life May 25, 2026. He was born April 24, 1945 in Gurdon, Arkansas the son Reggie and Loree Johnson. Charles lived in Rockford since 1966 coming from Gurdon, Arkansas. He married the former Versie Rigsby, April 17, 1975 in Rockford, IL. Charles was employed as a Fork Lift Operator by Gunite Foundry 39 years before retiring in 2005. He attended Faith Center Church. He graduated from Henry Bell High School in Gurdon, Arkansas.

Charles leaves to cherish many loving memories, his wife Versie Johnson; two daughters, Tajuana Johnson and Shanetta Davis; four grandchildren; step children, Shiela Wesley and Mark Anthony Cox; one sister, Jo Marie (Dan) Dowell-Heidelberg; a host of other relatives and friends. He was predeceased by his parents; four brothers Reggie Johnson, Willie T. Johnson, David Charles Johnson and James Dowell; three sisters, Carolyn Robinson, Elizabeth Sue Hunter and Etha Mae Bunn.

Services will be held 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, June 3, 2026 at Carl E. Ponds Funeral Home 200 N. Johnston Ave. Burial in Sunset Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be held 9:00 a.m. until the time of service.
