Charles Franklin Doby Sr, of Rockford departed this earthly life, April 14, 2025. He was born June 1, 1942 in Pachuta, MS the son of Taylor and Selmer Doby. Charles lived in Rockford 55 years coming from Pachuta, MS. He married the former Margaret Thigpen July 8, 1962. Charles was employed as a fork lift operator by Gunite Foundry 40 years before retiring. He was a member of Chapel Hill Church in Mississippi. Charles graduated from Northside High School in Rose Hill, MS.

Charles leaves to cherish many loving memories, his wife, Margaret Doby; three sons, Charles (LaGuanda) Doby Jr; Larry (Shawnee) Purifoy and Kevin Purifoy; two daughters, Shirley Robinson and Sandy Purifoy (Patrick Patterson); 16 grandchildren a host of great grandchildren; sister, Darlene Hunter and brother Norman Moore; several other relatives and friends. He was predeceased by his parents; three sisters, and two brothers.

Services will be held 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, April 23, 2025 at Carl E. Ponds Funeral Home Inc. 200 N. Johnston Ave. Visitation will be held 11:00 a.m. until the time of service.

Burial in Chapel Hill Cemetery, Pachuta, MS.
