Christine Peyton of Rockford departed this earthly life February 28, 2022. She was born January 14, 1946, in Holly Springs, MS the daughter of William and Zeria Manning. Christine lived in Rockford since 1968 coming from Holly Springs. She married Benny Peyton Sr. March 19, 1966, he preceded her in death. Christine was employed as an inspector by Chrysler Corporation 49 years before retiring. She was a member of Progressive Missionary Baptist Church serving with the Pastors Aid and kitchen committee. She graduated from Sims High School in Holly Springs. Christine leaves to cherish many loving memories, her son, Benny Peyton Jr; daughter, Melodie Peyton; six grandchildren, Markita, Martise, Avery (Courtneie) , Marquess, Joycelynn and Javen Peyton; eight great grandchildren; brothers, R. L. (Florida) Manning, Eddie (Alma) Manning, Edgar Manning and Oscar (Linda) Manning; five sisters, Mae Della Green, Gracie Jones, Deloris Manning, Dianne Manning and Janice (Willie Earl) McNeil; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She was predeceased by her parents; daughter, Kassandra Peyton; brothers, Haze Manning, James Manning and William Manning; sisters, Lorine Manning and Mozella Moton.

Services will be held 1:00 p.m. Friday, March 11, 2022 at Carl E. Ponds Funeral Home Inc. 200 N. Johnston Ave. Burial in Greenwood  Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 11:00 a.m. until the time of service.
