Corey Deonne Russey Sr., of Rockford, IL departed this earthly life February 13, 2023. He was born April 12, 1976 in Rockford the son of Benjamin and Kattie Russey. Corey was employed as a machine operator by Anderson Packaging. He accepted Christ at the age of 6, at Starlight Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of his grandfather Rev. Rob Ellis. He attended Auburn High School before graduating and attended Rock Valley College, where he received his CNC Certification.

Corey leaves to cherish many loving memories,  four daughters, Unique Russey, Courtney Russey, Corisa Dorsey and Angelic Dorsey; three sons, Corey Russey Jr., D'Angelo Dorsey and Tyrin Edwards; 7 grandchildren; his parents, Kattie (Robert) Starnes and Benjamin (Cris) Russey; three sisters, Alesha Russey, Emily( Andrew) Stone and Laura Russey; brother, Benjamin D. (Tina) Russey; several step brothers and sisters; maternal grandmother, Jessie Ellis and paternal grandmother, Imo Gene Russey; a host of other relatives and friends including special friends Angela Dorsey. He was predeceased by his maternal grandparents, Lindbergh and Margaret Meeks, and Pastor Rob Ellis; paternal grandparents, N.B. Russey Jr., Corene Freeman, and  Mr and Mrs Eugene Gulley.

Visitation will be held Thursday, February 23, 2023, 1:30 p.m. until 3:30 p.m. at Carl E. Ponds Funeral Home Inc. 200 N Johnston Ave.
