Obituary

Darryl William (Big Chill) Horton Sr. of Rockford, departed this earthly life on April 24, 2023. He was born on December 23, 1973 in Rockford, IL. The son of Doris Horton and Lieutenant (L.T.) Davis. Darryl was a fun loving devoted father, son, brother, uncle, and friend. He loved sports and was an avid Chicago Bears fan his whole life. Known to be the life of the party and a natural born comedian. He kept everyone laughing. Darryl loved no one more than he loved his namesake, his pride and joy, Darryl Jr.  He was determined to raise him to be a good man. He was so proud of him and was very excited about seeing him graduate high school this June. God called him home, so he will now watch over him from heaven.
Darryl leaves to cherish many loving memories, his son, Darryl Horton Jr; two sisters, Erica Horton (Eddie Williams) and Yateva Davis; three brothers, Stephen (Adria) Horton, Eric(Lakeyda)Davis, and Trey Davis; two step brothers, Demonde and Deronde Gulley.
Nephews; DeAndre', Jailen, Jayden,& Kendall Horton, Semaj and Ashad: Nieces, Ayanna and Maliyah Horton, Patrice and Kamya Bonner, T'Kai, Heiress, Eyana, Anyla, Rain; Stepmom Patricia Davis; Special Niece, Devin Mack. Special Best Friend, Rachel Whitely. A host of other relatives and friends. He was predeceased by his parents,
Doris Horton and Lieutenant (L.T.) Davis.
Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. at St. Luke Missionary Baptist Church. Burial in Sunset Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be held from 9:00 until time of service.
