Delbert D. Denny Sr. 86, of Rockford, Illinois departed this earthly life on Saturday, April 20, 2024 at Shepherd Premier Senior Living Facility.

He was born August 1, 1937 in Rockford, Illinois, the son of the late Rosa Lee and Julius Denny, Sr.

Delbert graduated from Rockford East High School.

Delbert married Irene L. McLin, in Rockford on July 12, 1958.

Delbert served four years in the Untied States Air Force located in Albuquerque, New Mexico.

Delbert was employed for 35+ years at Belvidere Chrysler Assembly Plant prior to retiring. He was an active member of the United Auto Workers Local (UAW) 1268. Delbert served in the UAW in several capacities including trustee and editor for the UAW's newspaper.

Delbert was an active community supporter of the Booker T. Washington Center.

Delbert was founding member of the Rockford Association for Minority Management (RAMM).

Delbert enjoyed watching sports especially the Bears, Bulls and the Drake Relays. He also enjoyed playing cards and bowling with friends and photography. After retirement, Delbert and Irene enjoyed spending time with family and traveling.

In 2000, Delbert became a member of Providence Baptist Church. He served as a member of the Usher Board until his health no longer allowed him to.

Delbert leaves to cherish many happy and loving memories his three children: Minister Angela Holliman, Las Vegas, Nevada, Diahann Woodard, Florida, and Reverend Delbert D. Deny Jr, (Wonda) Park Forest, IL; 5 grandchildren, Anisha Holliman Andrea Holliman, Montrell Denny (Felicia), Ravynn Todd (Austin), Bryce Denny, 8 great grand children, Amirah, Khalil, Zalen, Skylar, Timothy Jr., Maysen, Lincoln and Lucas.

One sister –law, Evelyn Denny, Chicago, Il. One special sister friend Chris Jackson. Three special buddies, Daryl Mosley, Kenny Burns and Terry Walker. A host of cousins, relatives, friends and church family of Providence Missionary Baptist Church.

Delbert is predeceased by his wife, Irene Denny, his parents, his three brothers, Charles (Chuckie) Denny, Julius Denny Jr. and William (Billy) Denny.
