Denicka Danita "Nicka" Bassett, of Rockford departed this earthly life September 26, 2024. She was born May 17, 1992 in Rockford the daughter of Vernetta Gulley and Derrick Bassett. Denicka was employed as a caregiver by Milestone before becoming ill. She was a member of Deliverance Crusader. Denicka attended Guilford High School and graduated from Jefferson High School class of 2010.

Denicka leaves to cherish many loving memories, her son, Kameron Brewer and daughter, Kamiyah Brewer; parents, Vernetta (Lamar) Glover and Derrick (Ladonna) Bassett; five sisters, Derricka Bassett, Talia Rose, Asia Mitchell, India Mitchell and Nijyrria Mitchell; four brothers, Kywan Bassett, Lamarcus Bassett, Nehemiah Gulley and Derrick Bassett Jr; a host of aunts, uncles, other relatives and friends including, special niece, Jah'niyah Tate and special nephew, Jakhi Hammond; special friends, Courtney Stott and Tesha Finklea; and companion, Jerry Coble. She was predeceased by her, daughter, Khalani Coble; brother, Latrell Bassett; maternal grandparents, Vernetta and Thomas Gulley and paternal grandparents, Lauticia Dawn and Henry Scott, uncle, Dwayne Bassett, aunt, Danita Bassett; and cousin Kiara Howard.

Services will be held 1:00 p.m. Saturday, October 5, 2024 at Carl E. Ponds Funeral Home Inc. 200 N. Johnston Ave. Visitation will be held from 11:00 a.m. until the time of service.
