DeVon LaMar "Von" Sykes of Rockford departed this earthly life March 15, 2022. He was born May 11, 1989 in Rockford the son of Felicia Sykes and Rodney Lambert. DeVon was an assistant coach for youth basketball and football for the YMCA and Rockford Park District. He attended Auburn High School , later to receive his G.E.D.

DeVon leaves to cherish many loving memories, two sons, DeVon Sykes Jr., and Tre'Von Sykes and daughter, JaMyah Sykes; fiancé , Tavetti Brown and her two children, Tahnia Brown and TraShawn Jamerson III; his parents, Felicia Reddic and Rodney Lambert; six brothers, Michael Reddic II., Jaylon Lambert, Rodarius Lambert, RodUnique Lambert, Roddre Lambert, Jaequez Lambert and Jamond Young; three sisters, Tyesha, Amari and RodUnique Lambert; maternal grandmother, Nancy Sykes; paternal grandfather, Rev. Fred (Ruby) Lambert; aunts, LaToya Sykes, LaShonda (Henry) Williams and Sebrina Thomas; uncle, Corey Sykes; a host of nieces, nephews other relatives and friends. He was predeceased by his maternal grandfather, Mack Sykes and paternal grandmother, Alice Lambert.

Services will be held  11:00 a.m. Friday, March 25, 2022 at Gomez Chapel A.M.E. Church 1509 Michigan Ave. Visitation will be held from 9:00 a.m. until the time of service.
