Dewain "Joestine" Thomas of Rockford departed this earthly life August 21, 2024. He was born February 13, 1964 in Memphis, TN  the son of Ernest and Josie Thomas. Dewain lived most of his life in Rockford coming from Memphis at the age of 3. He graduated from Jefferson High School class of 1982.

Dewain leaves to cherish many loving memories, his daughter Monique (Rico) Rayford; three grandchildren, Victoria "Jodai",  Olivia and Rio Rayford; one brother, Charles (Mary) Thomas; one niece, Natassia Fair and one nephew Oscar (Chi) Lockridge; his sister in law, Freda Lockridge; a host of other relatives. He was predeceased by his parents; and  three brothers, Oscar Lockridge, Artis Lockridge and Anthony Lockridge.

Services will be held 11:00 a.m. Saturday, August 31 2024 at Carl E. Ponds Funeral Home Inc. 200 N. Johnston Ave. Burial in Sunset Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be held from 9:00 a.m. until the time of service.
