Dontay D. "DT" Caviness, of Rockford departed this earthly life November 22, 2022. He was born February 27, 1985 in Rockford the son of Wesley and Jessie Johnson. Dontay was employed as a mover by College Hunks. He was a member of Greater Great New Fellowship Church of God in Christ. Dontay attended High School in Cairo, IL.

Dontay leaves to cherish many memories, son, Tayveon Caviness; two daughters, Azaria and Tayja Caviness; parents Wesley and Jessie; fiancée, Rachel Jones; brothers Wesley Johnson Jr., Jonathan Johnson and James Hopkins; sisters, LaShonda Bowman, April Caviness, Cecilia Bowman, Karen Nelson, Alice Johnson and Jamie Hopkins; a host of nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles other relatives and friends including special aunt Quanda Gaines and Bessie Caviness. He was predeceased by his sister, Ebony Caviness.

Services will be held 10:00 a.m. Saturday, December 10, 2022 at Carl E. Ponds Funeral Home Inc. 200 N. Johnston Ave. Visitation will be held 8:00 a.m. until the time of service.
