Dorothy Mae "Bit" Curry, of Rockford departed this earthly life November 29, 2022. She was born September 27, 1942 in Dawson, Georgia the daughter of Thomas and Dicie Cooper. Dorothy lived in Rockford since 1951 coming from Georgia. She married Ivory Curry, he preceded her in death. Dorothy was employed as a supervisor by Rockford Bolt and Steel, 44 years before retiring. She was a member of  Freedom Baptist Church, serving in the choir. She attended school West High School.

Dorothy leaves to cherish many loving memories, one son Earl (Kennya) Curry; three daughters, Katherine Kidd, Effie Curry and Sheila Curry; 22 grandchildren, 53 great grandchildren; and a host of great great grandchildren;  brother, Johnny Cooper; sisters, twin sister, Daisy Brown and Jessie Friar; a host of nieces, nephews other relatives and friends including special caregiver, Tamica Robinson. She was predeceased by her parents; son, Aaron Curry; daughter, Deborah Cooper; grandson, Aaron "Peanut" Timmons and granddaughter, Shawnta Jones; and sister, Laura Jones.

Service will be held 11:00 a.m. Friday, December 9, 2022 at Freedom Baptist Church 1406 School Street. Burial in Greenwood Cemetery. Visitation will be held 9:00 a.m. until the time of service. Arrangements completed by Carl E. Ponds Funeral Home Inc. 200 N. Johnston Ave.
