Dorothy Marie Hill, of Rockford departed this earthly life Saturday, October 14, 2023 in her home surrounded by her family. She was born January 14, 1946 in Whelen Springs, Arkansas the daughter of James and Desree Reedy. Dorothy lived most of her life in Rockford coming from Arkansas in 1949. She married Willie Hill, December 1, 1962.  Dorothy was the owner and operator of Downtown Shoes and Boutique since 1985. Dorothy was a member of New Fellowship Missionary Baptist Church.  She attended West High School.

Dorothy leaves to cherish many loving memories,  her husband, Willie; daughter, Tracy L. Hill; three grandchildren, Vondell T. Anderson, Lakhiyia F. Y. Hicks and Tachonda F. Hicks; 10 great grandchildren; five sisters, Glendeen Jarrett, Earmatine Maypray, Christine Reedy, Francine Goodwin and Elaine Reedy; one brother James (Patricia) Reedy; a host of nieces, nephews other relatives and friends including special friends Mattie Saulter, Fannie Mitchell and Thelma Taylor.

She was predeceased by her parents; great granddaughter Ava Anderson; and sister Betty Reedy-Gunn.

Services will be held 11:00 a.m. Monday, October 23, 2023 at St. Luke Missionary Baptist Church 2919 19th Street. Burial in Sunset Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be held from 9:00 a.m. until the time of service. Arrangements completed by Carl E. Ponds Funeral Home Inc. 200 N. Johnston Ave.
