Dorothy Jean "Dot Jean" Shipman, of Rockford departed this earthly life October 6, 2024. She was born June 23, 1943 in Rosston, Arkansas the daughter of Ollie and Lida Young. Dorothy lived in Rockford 10 years coming from Saginaw, Michigan. She married Hudgie Shipman, he preceded her in death.  Dorothy was employed as an assembler by Chrysler Corporation over 20 years before retiring. She attended Freedom Baptist Church. She attended schools in Stephenson, Arkansas.

Dorothy leaves to cherish many loving memories, two sons, Silas (Rochelle) Scott and Jessie (Linda) Scott; five daughters, Debra (Wayne) Jordan, Diane (Dennis) Thomas, Barbara Bentley, Regina Henry and Monica Henry; 32 grandchildren and a host of great and great great grandchildren; a host of nieces, nephews other relatives and friends. She was predeceased by her parents; and two brothers, Loyce Young and Lewis Young.

Services will be held 11:00 a.m. October 21, 2024 at Carl E. Ponds Funeral Home Inc. 200 N. Johnston Ave. Visitation will be held 9:00 a.m. until the time of service,
