Edward Jordan Johnson Jr., of Rockford departed this life January 4, 2024. He was born April 5, 1951 in Yazoo City, Mississippi the son of Edward Sr. and Minnie Earl Johnson. Edward lived many years in Rockford coming from Chicago, IL. He was a self employed electrician many years. Edward was a Veteran of the U.S. Air Force. He was a former member of New Covenant Christian Fellowship Church, where he served as a Deacon; before their closing. Edward was a member of the Credo Men's Group, through the Rockford Rescue Mission. He graduated from DuSable High school and attended Rock Valley College.

Edward leaves to cherish many loving memories, his two daughters, Kim (Rodney) Barlow and Shawnee Johnson; stepson who he loved like his own, Victor (Renee) Owens; two grandchildren, Kayla and Rishona Barlow; great grandson, Levi Logan; brother, Randall Johnson; sisters, Shawnee Johnson, Josephine Crayton, Jaqueline McQueen, Lisa and Vicky; a host of nieces, nephews other relatives  and friends; including special cousins Rufus and Charlotte Puckett. He was predeceased by his father Edward Johnson Sr. and his mother, Minnie Johnson; two brothers Jerald and Donald Johnson.

Services will be held 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, January 10, 2024 at Carl E. ponds Funereal Home Inc. 200 N. Johnston Ave. Visitation will be held from 9:00 a.m. until the time of service.
