Edward Samuel "Sonny" Wofford Jr., of Rockford departed this earthly life September 1, 2025. He was born April 13, 1940 in Camden, Arkansas the son of Edward Wofford Jr. and Edna Wofford, being raised by his step mother Lou Wofford. Edward lived in Rockford since 1957 coming here from Arkansas. He married the former Marie A. Scott, August 18, 1984 in Rockford. Edward was employed in construction by Schlichting and Sons before retiring. He was baptized and accepted Christ at an early age in Arkansas. Edward attended schools in Camden.

Edward leaves to cherish many loving memories, his wife Marie; daughter Lasonya ( Antwon ) Parish; three sons, Edmond T. Wofford, Charles Richardson and Michael Harrington; 16 grandchildren; a host of great grandchildren; sister, Etheleen Gray; a host of nieces, nephews cousins other relatives and friends including god daughter, Brittney Jones, best friend Isacc Dugger and dog, Dallas. He was predeceased by his parents; step sons, Anthony and Marty Mackey; one grand daughter; three sisters, Edna Walker, Virginia Richmond and Venere Paschal.

Services will be held 11:00 Thursday, September 11, 2025 at Macedonia Baptist Church 1720 Morgan St. Burial in Sunset Memorial Gardens. Visitation 9:00 a.m. until the time of service. Arrangements completed by Carl E Ponds Funeral Home Inc. 200 N. Johnston Ave.
