Finus "Preaching Finus" Walker, Jr. was born May 31, 1954 in Rockford, Illinois, to Finus Walker, Sr. and his wife, Larceluia Walker.  Finus Jr. was the eighth of ten children.  His close-knit family was his stability. In junior high school, he excelled in basketball and was a starter on the Roosevelt Junior High School basket ball team.

Finus Walker, Jr. gave his life to the LORD in 1973. As a husband and new father, he understood he needed an anchor for life.  He attended Community Church of God and was appointed as an 'undershepherd' assisting new converts in their Christian journey. He and his family would host Christian fellowships and prayer meetings in their home. Finus Walker, Jr. would create his own spiritual tracts to pass out. He ministered for the LORD.

Finus Walker, Jr. was employed with Chrysler Corporation, Belvidere and with the Quaker Oats Company until a severe back injury caused him to become unable to work.

Finus Walker, Jr. leaves 'good works' to cherish: two sons in the ministry; Deacon Finus (Leela) Walker, III and Rev. Gabriel (LaShaunda) Walker; three grandchildren: Shayfanise Walker, Javonne Walker and Finus Walker, IV; and a great-granddaughter, Aisha Dickens.  He also leaves loving memories for four sisters: Dorothy Wright, Mary Walker, Betty Stephens and Brenda Walker; and two brothers E.L. Walker and Hal Walker.  He is predeceased by his parents and three brothers.
