Gerald Dexter Grady, of Rockford departed this earthly life, August 5, 2022. He was born September 2, 1944  in Beloit, WI the son of Arthur D.  and Marie Grady. Gerald lived in Rockford since 1954 coming from Beloit, WI. He married the former Sheila Housler, February 18, 1984. Gerald was owner and operator of Rockford Cleaning Company, formerly know as Mahogany Union. Gerald also was employed by the City of Rockford over 15 years before opening his own business. He was a member of Centennial Multicultural United Methodist Church. Gerald was a 32 degree Master Mason of   E. F. W. Ellis Lodge 633 A.F. & A.M. He graduated from West  High School, Class of 1963 and attended Chicago Art Institute, Chicago Academy of Fine Arts and Batista School of Design and Construction.

Gerald leaves to cherish many loving memories, his wife, Sheila; daughter, Shostocka Matlock; sister, Tonya Wright; best friend/ brother, Ralph (Regina) Hill a host of other relatives and friends. He was predeceased by his parents and several special uncles and aunts.

Services will be held 11:00 a.m. Saturday, August 13, 2022 at Carl E. Ponds Funeral Home Inc. 200 N. Johnston Ave. Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service.
