Geraldine "Gerri" McClain of Rockford departed this earthly life September 12, 2021. She was born May 5, 1942 in West, Mississippi the daughter Lemon and Littie Ann Horton. Geraldine lived in Rockford 54 years coming from Freeport, IL. She married Henry McClain July 17, 1959 in Freeport, IL. Geraldine was self employed as a child care provider many years. She was a member of New Zion Missionary Baptist Church serving in the Music ministry, Children's ministry and as a Deaconess. Geraldine attended schools in Mississippi later to receive her G.E.D.

Geraldine leaves to cherish many loving memories, her devoted husband, Henry; three daughters, Rhonda (Denzil) Winter, Jacqueline (Earnest) Ballard and Rachel (Jermaine) Jackson; three sons, Kenneth, Stuart (Wanice) and Raymond McClain; 10 grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren; 2 great great grandchildren; sister, Ethel (James) Fowler; brothers, Jimmie and Leon Horton; a host of nieces, nephews other relatives and friends and several god children. She was predeceased by her parents, daughter, Diane McClain; three sisters, and eight brothers.

Services will be held  11:00 a.m. Monday, September 20, 2021 at New Zion Missionary Baptist Church 4726 Jasper St. Rockford, IL 61102. Burial in Cedar Bluff Cemetery. Visitation will be held 9:00 a.m. until the time of service. Arrangements completed by Carl E. Ponds Funeral Home Inc.
