Gladys A. Dixon-Mackey, of Rockford departed this earthly life February 16, 2022. She was born March 2, 1939 in Athens, Alabama the daughter of Lugenia Caine. Gladys lived in Rockford since she was 5 years old, coming from Nashville. She married Eugene Dixon, he preceded her in death and later married Melvin Mackey, he also preceded her in death.  Gladys was employed as a punch press operator by National Lock Company 16 years before retiring. Gladys was a member of The Next Level Community Church. She was a former member of the Eastern Star. Gladys attended West High school.

Gladys leaves to cherish many loving memories, two sons, Michael and Howard Dixon; four daughters, Debra Smart, Ginger Jones, Sandra (Calvin) Green and Lugenia Dixon; 22 grandchildren; a host of great and great great grandchildren; many other relatives and friends. She was predeceased by her mother; son, Bobby Dixon; and daughter, Loreeta Dixon.

Services will be held 11:00 a.m. Saturday, February 26, 2022, at Carl E. Ponds Funeral Home Inc. 200 N. Johnston Ave. Burial in Greenwood Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 9:00 a.m. until the time of service.
