Gloria Dean "Glo" Powell of Rockford Departed this earthly life May 11, 2023. She was born November 16, 1955 in Freeport, IL the daughter of Erving Jr. and Lyda Erving. Gloria lived in Rockford over 30 years coming from Freeport. She married John Powell Sr. July 21, 2021.  Gloria was a self employed child care provider by Happy Time Home Day Care.  She was a member of West Side Church of God in Christ, serving as a youth mentor and Nurse. Gloria graduated from Freeport Senior High School.

Gloria leaves to cherish many loving memories, her husband, John; daughter, Qianna Davis and two sons, Demetreaus Erving and Maurice Erving; step children, Cortez Powell and  Passion Jamison; 11 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren; sisters, Debra Pogue and Roberta Keys; brothers Ricky (Cheryl) Erving, Paul Erving and Leroy Erving; a host of nieces, nephews other relatives and friends. She was predeceased by her parents; two sisters, Pearlene Williamson and  Claudette Buchanan; brother, Vincent Erving.

Services will be held 11:00 a.m. Friday,  May 26, 2023 at Carl E. Ponds Funeral Home Inc. 200 N. Johnston Ave. Burial in Willwood Burial Park. Visitation will be held from 9:00 a.m. until the time of service.
