G rayland  was born in Rockford, IL the second son of John and Elnora Smith. He passed away on January 28, 2023 after a long illness.

After losing both his parents, Grayland eventually moved to California, where he resided for many years.

He graduated High School and went on to receive a degree in Aviation, where he worked as a engineer for many years.

G rayland enjoyed living in Calley being surrounded by his brother, Johnny and family and sister, Travis and family amongst all other family members and friends. He enjoyed the family gatherings, the outings, going to concerts and  sporting events. He even liked horseback riding. He had a love for dogs, of which he had a few throughout his lifetime.

After the passing of his brother and dear sister Travisteen, Grayland  moved back to Rockford to be surrounded and spoiled by his three sisters, Arma Jean, Paulette and Sue; amongst all other family and friends.

Him and Lenora were as thick as thieves, they share a lifetime of memories.

G rayland loved his family and enjoyed being around them. He would do for other before he would do for himself. Yet he still like keeping to himself. Some would say like a hermit, but he did go and, do when and what he wanted, up until his sickness started. Then he just wouldn't do much at all.

G rayland leaves to cherish his memories, special nephew, Kevin Smith of Antioch California, in which never would a day go by, without them talking on the phone; along with so many other nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, parents, John and Elnora; his brother, Johnny Smith; his sisters Travisteen Epps, Paulette Greer, Arma Jean Harris and Suzanne Smith.
