Hazel Marjorie Alexander, 96, of Rockford departed this earthly life December 20, 2024 in San Bernadino, California. She was born July 28, 1928 in Quitman, Georgia the daughter of  Rubie Mae Portee and Nathanial McMillan. Hazel lived in Rockford since 1943 coming from Quitman.  She married Roscoe Alexander, August 4, 1951, he preceded her in death. Hazel was employed as an assembler by Chrysler Corporation 26 years before retiring. She was a member of Hope Fellowship under the leadership of her son, Rev. Ronald Alexander; where she served on the Mothers Board. Hazel was a former faithful member of Providence Baptist Church where she served as a Usher, with the Young Adult Ministry, as a Youth Choir Advisor and with the Kitchen Committee. She graduated from Rockford West High School.

Hazel leaves to cherish many fun and loving memories, three sons, Reginald Lamar (Pamela) Alexander, Richard Dwayne Alexander and Ronald George (Shelia) Alexander; 15 grandchildren, 21 greatgrandchildren; a host of other relatives and friends including goddaughter, Sandra Pearson and godson, Rev. Dr. Craig Smith, special family friends, Wanda Rice and Gwen Ballard. She was predeceased by her parents; husband; and son Robert Eugene Alexander.

Services will be held  12:00 noon Saturday, January 4, 2025 at St. Paul Church of God In Christ 1001 Bishop Washington Ave. Entombment in Sunset Memorial Gardens. Visitation 10:00 a.m. until the time of service. Arrangements completed by Carl E. Ponds Funeral Home Inc. 200 N. Johnston Ave.
