James George Armstrong, of Rockford departed this earthly life December 11, 2022. He was born May 17, 1944 in Greenfield, TN  the son of James and Willie Mae Armstrong. James lived in Rockford since 1990 coming from South Bend, Indiana. He married the former Amy Elizabeth Dozier in Greenfield, TN; she preceded him in death. James was employed as a machine operator. He  was a member of Sate Street Church of Christ, where he served as an usher. James was a veteran of the United States Air Force.  He graduated from Wicha County Trading School.

James leaves to cherish many loving memories; two daughters, Lisa and Angie Armstrong; seven grandchildren and five great grandchildren; two sisters, Irene Armstrong and Susan (Calvin) Parchmon; a host of nieces, nephews other relatives and friends. He was predeceased by his parents; and three brothers, William, Robert and Charles Armstrong.

Services will be held 11:00 a.m. Monday, December 19, 2022 at Carl E. Ponds Funeral Home Inc. 200 N. Johnston Ave. Burial in Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery. Visitation will be held 9:00 a.m. until the time of service.
