James "J.D. Davis, of Rockford, departed this life January 1, 2024. He was born March 7, 1959 in Rockford, IL the son of Thomas II. and Dorothy Davis. James was employed as a machinist 10 years at Ingersoll Milling, later being employed as a postal clerk by the United States Postal Service 10 years. James was a member of Israel of God's Church WHA serving in the choir. He attended East High School, later to receive his GED.

James leaves to cherish many loving memories, his two daughters, Antoinette Nunn and Tamieka McGee; two grandchildren,  Taie McGee and Briond McGee; mother,  Mother Dorothy Davis-Gray; two brothers, Deacon John (Kim) Davis and Morris (Janine) Davis; five sisters,  Denise Rodgers, Rebecca Davis, Cynthia Hall, Elizabeth Davis and Patricia Davis; a host of nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews other relatives, friends and church family. He was predeceased by his father, Deacon Thomas Davis II; twin sister, Jane Davis; and brother Thomas Davis III.

Services will be 11:00 a.m. January 20, 2024 at Israel of God's Church WHA 1505 Clifton Avenue. Burial in Sunset Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be 9:00 a.m. until the time of service. Arrangements completed by Carl E. Ponds Funeral Home Inc.  200 N.  Johnston Ave.
