James Louis "Jim"  Prunty, of Rockford departed this earthly life December 19, 2024. He was born February 5, 1941 in August, Arkansas the son of Matthew and Manie Prunty.  James lived in Rockford since 1965 coming from Jonesboro, Arkansas. He married the former Bessie Glover, May 26, 1977. James was employed as a Butcher by Rochelle Foods 40 years before retiring. He was a former member of Greater New Hope Missionary Baptist Church. James attended Schools in Arkansas.

James leaves to cherish many loving memories, his wife, Bessie; five sons, Tony Prunty, Charles Irving Jr., Chris Irving and DeJesus Prunty; two daughters, Linda (Jim) Singletary and Valerie Prunty; 21 grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren; brother, Lewis (Linda) Prunty; a host of nieces, nephews cousins other relatives and friends. He was predeceased by his parents; two sons, Roger Prunty and James Prunty Jr; sister, Orlene Prunty; and four brothers, Johnny, John, Floyd, Ben Lee, Bob and Matthew Prunty.

Services will be held 1:30 p.m. Sunday, December 29, 2024 at Carl E. Ponds Funeral Home Inc. 200 N. Johnston Avenue. Visitation 11:30 a.m. until the time of service.
