Jelean "Jean" Johnson of Rockford departed this earthly life July 21, 2024 in her home. She was born September 22, 1941 in Richland Parrish, Louisiana the daughter of Edna Fountain and George Scott. Jelean lived in Rockford since 1973 coming from Louisiana, moving back to Louisiana in 2010 and coming back to Rockford in 2020.  She married Wesley Johnson December 17, 1998, he preceded her in death. Jelean was employed 16 years by Rockford Memorial Hospital before retiring. She was a member of Macedonia Baptist Church. She attended schools in Louisiana.

Jelean leaves to cherish many loving memories, daughter Audrey (Glenn) Butler; son, Gregory Scott; five grandchildren; Michael Thomas, Leroy Oliver, Tasha Jackson, Shatekwa Grant and Lacreshia Grant; five great grandchildren; her mother, Edna Burpoe; and her step father who helped raise her, Daniel Burpoe; one god daughter; three sisters, Emma Johnson, Ora Scott and Ruby Scott Radcliff; four brothers, Leroy (Mary) Williams, George Burgess, Donald Bupoe and Vernell (Erma) Scott; a host of nieces, nephews other relatives and friends. She was predeceased by her father George Scott; son Rufus Scott and daughter Theresa Williams; sister Marilyn "Pam" Williams; brother Herbert Dean Scott Sr; and grandson, Rufus Scott Jr.

Services will be held 12:00 noon Saturday, July  27, 2024 at Carl E. Ponds Funeral Home Inc. Burial in Cedar Bluff Cemetery. Visitation will be held 10:00 a.m. until the time of service.
