Joe Nathan Woods, 64 of Rockford, Illinois departed this earthly life on September 18, 2024. Joe was born January 13, 1960, in Rockford, Illinois and was the son of Robert B. and Tessie Lee Woods.
Joe lived in Rockford all his life.  He was a member of Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church. He attended Rockford Public Schools. Joe was an outdoors type of person. He was a devout admirer of nature. His connection to the natural world and the way he spent time in nature was a luxury to him. He became fascinated by all aspects of nature, including the love of all types of animals at a very young age. Joe had a sense of humor and loved his music, especially the Isley Brothers.
He leaves to cherish his memory, his loving mother, Tessie Lee Woods. Siblings; Alberta Russell; Arlington, Texas. Robert Earl (Nora) Woods, Marvin Woods, Curtis (Amy) Woods, Carie (Donna) Woods, Alex (Mary) Woods; Edmond, Oklahoma, Lillian (Ronald) Williams, Donnie (Ellen) Woods, James Woods, Jaunita Woods, Delores (Jeff) Walker of Rockford, IL. Aunt, Gerlean Pickens. A host of niece's, nephew's other relatives and friends. He was predeceased by his father, Robert B. Woods, Paternal and Maternal grandparents, Aunts and Uncles. Four sisters: Doris Holliman, Eloise Pearson, Wanda Jean Woods, and Margaret Watkins.

Memorial Service will be held 12:00 noon Friday,  September 27, 2024 at Carl E. Ponds Funeral Home Inc. 200 N. Johnston Ave. Doors will be open from 11:00 a.m. until the time of service.
