Johnathon "John" Terrell Sams Sr. , of Rockford departed this earthly life February 7, 2023. He was born September 28, 1981 in Rockford the son of John and Clara Sams. Johnathon married the former Lashae Lee, January 8, 2016 in Rockford. He was employed as a fork lift operator by PepsiCo and previously by Rocknel Fastener over five years.  Johnathon was a member of Ephesians Missionary Baptist Church, serving as their organist. He graduated from Auburn High School class of 1999.

Johnathon leaves to cherish many loving memories, his wife Lashae; three daughters, Taylor Lee, Jayda and Jordan Sams; two sons, Johnathon Sams Jr., and Quavion Lee; parents John O. Sams and Clara Brown; three brothers, Evon Sams, Johnathon Patterson and Lewis Brown Jr; two sisters, Katrina Brown and Tamika Brown; step father Lewis Brown Sr; a host of nieces, nephews other relatives and friends, including special niece, Aliyah Lomax and special cousin, who he loved like a mother,  Mary Beasley. He was predeceased by his brother, Nicholas Sams.

Services will be held 11:00 am. Friday, February 17, 2023 at Macedonia Baptist Church 1720 Morgan Street. Burial in Greenwood Cemetery. Visitation will be held 9:00 a.m. until the time of service. Arrangements completed by Carl E. Ponds Funeral Home Inc. 200 N. Johnston Ave.
