Johnny "Walking Tall" and "Grasshopper", Hunt of Rockford departed this earthly life September 22, 2024. He was born August 21, 1941 in Trenton, TN the  son of John and Wilma Hunt, being raise by stepmother, Elisabeth Hunt. Johnny lived in Rockford over 55 years coming from Humboldt, TN. He was employed as a assembly lineman by Chrysler Corporation 31 years before retiring in 2004. Johnny graduated from Stegall High School.

Johnny leaves to cherish many loving memories, his  daughters, Wilma Johnson, Charlotte Hunt and Gwendolyn Renea Dickerson; a host of grandchildren; companion of many years, Rosie Valentine; step children, Stephanie and Lisa Valentine; brother, David Hunt; a host of other relatives and friends including cousins, Cheryl Taylor Lee, Stephen Dale Taylor, Elton Taylor and Henry Robinson. He was predeceased by his parents;  sons, Kollest Hunt and Clarence Gregory Holland; daughter Barbara Hunt; and brother, Edward Mosley; and cousin, Alean Hunt-Robinson.

Service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, October 8, 2024 at Carl E. Ponds Funeral Home Inc. 200 N. Johnston Ave. Visitation will be held from 11:00 a.m. until the time of service.
