Joseph William Shepherd of Rockford departed this earthly life January 11, 2026. He was born January 4, 1935 in Franklin, North Carolina the son of Will and Icey Shepherd. Joseph lived in Rockford since 1956 coming from Franklin, NC. He married the former DeArmond Turner April 19, 1958. Joseph was employed as a machine operator by Woodward Governor many years before retiring. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army. Joseph was a member of City First, where he would help with different construction projects needed around the building. He attended West High School

Joseph leaves to cherish many loving memories, his wife of 67 years, DeArmond Shepherd; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins other relatives and friends.

Services will be held 1:00 p.m. Saturday, January 24, 2026 at City First 5950 Spring Creek Road. Burial in Cedar Bluff Cemetery. Visitation will be held 11:00 a.m. until the time of service.
