Joy Marie Irving, of Arlington, Texas departed this earthly life October 6, 2022. She was born March 4, 1966 in Rockford, IL the daughter Bessie Prunty and Charles Joseph Irving Sr. Joy relocated to Arlington, Texas, April of 2022. She was employed as a supervisor over the inmates at Winnebago County Jail, by Aramak. Joy was also owner and operator of Men's Quick Mart. She was formerly married to Eddie Thompson. She attended Victory Outreach Church and City First Church. Joy attended Auburn High School, later to receive her G.E.D. at Roosevelt Adult School. She graduated from Judson College where she received her Bachelors degree in Human Services and Criminal Justice.

Joy leaves to cherish many loving memories, daughter, Caprisha Sturdivant-Irving-Harris; two sons, Sarcationas (Flashette) Irving and Larry Sturdivant Jr.; four grandchildren, Shakaria Hines, Larry Sturdivant III, Azayna Sturdivant and Casiano Harris; mother, Bessie (James) Prunty father, Charles Joseph Irving Sr.; sisters, Jene, Sharon, Felica, Ave, Eva, and Charda; brothers, Charles, Chris, Dejesus, Rodney, Joseph, David, Warren, Frank, Joseph Jr., Tavate, Joseph III., a host of nieces, nephews other relatives and friends including special nieces, Chelsey and Zariah; special grandson, Devonte Boose. She was predeceased by her sister, Lovonne Blakemore.

Memorial services will be held 2:00 p.m. Saturday, October 22, 2022 at Carl E. Ponds Funeral Home Inc. 200 N. Johnston Ave. Doors will be open from 1:00 p.m. until the time of service.
