Butler
Apr 26, 1953 — Dec 13, 2023
Rockford
Julius "Bug" Butler passed away on Wednesday, December 13, 2023. Born on April 26, 1953 to Phillip and Ellen "Monk" Butler, he was the fourth of seven boys and fifth of eight children. He graduated from Durant High School in 1972 and later moved to Rockford, IL. After working a short time at Chrysler Assembly Plant, he spent his life doing what he loved and was, overall, a "Gentlemen of Leisure."
Initially nicknamed "Tulip Bulb" due to his sweet disposition as a baby, his nicknames varied over the years from, "Thulip," to "Thulip bug," to "Bug." Bug had a zest for life, was very caring, and was well loved by all. He was insightful, intelligent and could dialogue with anyone on nearly any subject. He was very philosophical and was often sought out for advice. Bug loved the Lord and was very knowledgeable of the bible.
He leaves to cherish his memory, two daughters, Kidada Williams of Rockford and Claretha "Sweetie" (Alfred) Hill of Starkville, MS, and bonus daughter, Trishonya Williams of Rockford; two grandsons Cortavious Williams and Imari Brewer of Rockford; four granddaughters, Corshauna Brewer and Lamarea Blankenship of Rockford, and Audrey and Allison Hill of Starkville, MS; five great-grandchildren; three brothers, William, Olander, and Jesse Butler, all of Rockford; close cousin, Karen Butler of Chicago; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and relatives, and steadfast, long-time companion, Carletta "Puddin" Sockwell.
He was predeceased by his parents, three brothers, and his only sister.
