Kathleen Ann Powell, of Rockford departed this earthly life December 5, 2023. She was born November 12, 1940 in Kenosha, WI the daughter of Walter and Mary Corey. Kathleen lived in Rockford 60 years coming from Louisiana. She married John Powell, May 16, 1960 in Rockford, he preceded her in death. Kathleen was employed as the Director of Child Services by Blackhawk Learning Connection since 1969.  She was a charter member of Jerusalem Missionary Baptist Church, where she formerly served as the Church Secretary. She graduated from East High School class of 1957, later to receive her Associates Degree from Rock Valley College.

Katheleen leaves to  cherish many loving memories, two daughters, Teresa Powell and Deanna (Jackie) Thompson; two sons, Kenneth (Kerri) Powell and John (Nessie) Powell; one step daughter Vickie Curtis; 15 grandchildren;  sister, Helen (Scott) Smith; and brother Michael (Cathy) Corey; a host of nieces, nephews other relatives and friends. She was predeceased by her parents, husband; son, David Powell; three sisters, Mary Ellen Corey, Marilyn Corey and Connie Oquist.

Services will be held 10:00 a.m. Saturday,  December 16, 2023 at Jerusalem Missionary Baptist Church 301 Klines Ave. Burial in Willwood Burial Park. Visitation will be held 4:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. at Carl E. Ponds Funeral Home Inc. 200 N. Johnston Ave.
