Linda McNeely of Rockford, IL departed this earthly life April 24, 2023. She was born September 16, 1955 n Rockford the daughter of John and Juanita McNeely. Linda was self-employed Tax Preparer by Ameritax. Linda also served 26 years as the alderman of the 13th Ward and many sub committees. Linda also served as a member of the Illinois Democrat State Central Committee women. In 2022 she was a candidate for the United States House of Representatives Illinois District 17. She was a member of Macedonia Baptist Church. She graduated from Auburn High School; later receiving her associates degree from Wilbur Wright College; Bachelors degree in Government from University of Denver and Masters Degree in Business from Roosevelt University.

Linda leaves to cherish many loving memories, six nephews, Andrew McNeely who she loved like a brother, Lamont Hudson, Pierre McNeely, Christopher Pickett, Hassan (Carla) Muhammad, and Lawrence (Stephanie) Pickett; one niece, Lophina Thompson; special great nieces, Drewina, Jasmine, Kelli and Asia; special great nephew, Anjulion; a host of other relatives and friends.

She was predeceased by her parents; two sisters, Anna Marie Pickett and Marie Hudson; and brother, Leon McNeely.

Services will be held 11:00a.m. Wednesday, May 10, 2023 at Macedonia Baptist Church 1720 Morgan St. Burial in Sunset Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be held 9:00 a.m. until the time of service. Arrangements completed by Carl E. Ponds Funeral Home Inc. 200 N. Johnston Ave.
