Linda Carol "Gwen" Phillips of Rockford departed this earthly life November 20, 2023. She was born January 13,1953 in Memphis, TN. The daughter of Odessa and Rufus Jones.  Linda was employed as a Restaurant Manager by the Chicago Board of Trade over 10 years. Linda relocated to Rockford in 1992 coming from Chicago, IL. She worked at Rockford Memorial Hospital and UPS before Retiring. Linda was a member of the Salvation Army, Rockford Temple, serving as a Usher. She graduated from Simeon High School.

Linda leaves to cherish many loving memories, daughter, Ruby (Charles) Davis and son, Vincent Phillips; 21 grandchildren; a host of great grandchildren; the love of her life and companion, Bruce Darnell; five sisters, Daisy Herring, LaJoyce (Michael) Safford, Patricia (George) Robinson, Sheila Standfield and Karen Dowthard; three brothers, Rufus (Sharon) Jones, Michael (Annette) Jones and Keith Jones; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She was predeceased by her parents; son, Robert Anderson, and daughter, Patricia Phillips.

Memorial service in celebration of Linda's life will be held 1:00 p.m. Saturday, December 2, 2023 at Salvation Army Rockford Temple Corps Community Center 500 S. Rockford Ave. Rockford, Il 61104. Doors will be open from 12:00 noon until the time of service.
