Lorena "Lola" Skelton of Rockford departed this earthly life October 26, 2021. She was born June 7, 1926 in Camden, Arkansas the daughter of Robert Sr. and Gracie Thomas. Lorena lived in Rockford since 1944 coming from Camden. She was married 35 years to Marshall Skelton, he preceded her in death. Lorena was employed as a chef by Welches Restaurant many years before retiring. She was a member of Pilgrim Baptist Church since 1945 serving in the kitchen and member of the Circle of Ruth and Choir. She attended schools in Camden later to receive her G.E.D.

Lorena leaves to cherish many loving memories, many nieces and nephews god children other family and friends who loved her dearly and best friend Marie Rivers. She was predeceased by her parents, husband; and three brothers, Charles Thomas Sr., Robert Thomas Jr., and George Thomas.

Services will be held 11:00 a.m. Friday, November 5, 2021 at Pilgrim Baptist Church 1703 S. Central Ave. Burial in Greenwood Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 9:00 a.m. until the time of service. Arrangements completed by Carl E. Ponds Funeral Home Inc. 200 N. Johnston Ave.
