Marian Gillespie, 82 of Rockford, Illinois.  Departed this earthly life at

5:21 pm on Saturday, December 2, 2023.  She was born April 3, 1941, in

Birmingham, Alabama.  Daughter of Timothy and Waymer (Rutledge)

Taylor Jr.

She was a member of New Zion Baptist Church where she had served on

the Senior Usher Board, Nurses Board and the We Care Ministry.  She

lived in Rockford for more than 40 years, coming here from Ann

Arbor, Michigan.  Marian was employed by Swedish American

Hospital for 20 years before she retired.

Marian leaves to cherish many memories, (1) son,

Lawayne Charles Taylor, (3) daughters, Vea Lynn Payton, Ruth Renee

Taylor and Shawn La-Dell Gillespie.  7 grandchildren, 22 great

grandchildren, 3 great great grandchildren along with bonus children

and grandchildren, and a host of special friends.

Predeceased by parents, Timothy Taylor Jr and Waymer Chandler

and daughter Angela Taylor.

Services will be held 11:00 a.m. Monday, December 11, 2023 at New Zion Baptist Church 4726 Jasper. Burial in Greenwood Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 9:00 a.m. until the time of service.
