Marilyn Delois Herring of Rockford departed this earthly life February 11, 2023. She was born September 16, 1954 in Angry, MS the daughter of Delois Cross. Marilyn lived in Rockford since 1980 coming from Flint, Michigan. She married Jerry Thomas, August 21, 2021 in Rockford. Marilyn was employed as a Certified Nurses Assistant since 1980, last employed by Home Health Care Plus before retiring and previously by Presence Health. She attended True Vine Baptist Church. Marilyn was a salesperson for Avon 20 years. She attended Roosevelt High School in New York, later to receiver her G.E.D. from Rock Valley College, where she also attended a few years.

Marilyn leaves to cherish many loving memories, her husband Jerry; two daughters, Patrice (Clifton) McCullough and Shyray Herring; five grandchildren; ten great grandchildren; stepchildren, Jerry II, and Nedriona Thomas, and Faith Allen; sister, Diana Williams; brother in law, Jessie (Denise) Thomas; a host of other relatives and friends including best friend, Kimberly Bowens. She was predeceased by her parents, daughter, Moneatha Cross; grandson, D'Eazian Doss; grandparents Mangle and Savanah Cross.

Memorial services will be held 12:30p.m. February 24, 2023 at Carl E. Ponds Funeral Home Inc. 200 N. Johnston Ave. Doors will be open from 11:30 a.m. until the time of service.
